If your church, club or organization, or even a family reunion group will be visiting us in Council Grove, be sure to contact us. We would love to set a date for a tour guide to show you our many historic sites. Several tours are available for half day, full day, or just a speaker while you eat your meal. See our website at for our brochure listing the 25 Historic Sites. We would love to customize a tour just for your taste, whether in town or out on the prairie at Allegawaho to see the native tall grass. All tours are $3 for adult and $1 for children. Minimum tour size is $30. Tours including the Kaw Mission Museum will pay their admission in addition, directly to them.

Damian Razzouq will be on hand to teach classes on Salsa, Bachata, and Cha Cha Cha on February 13 from 6-8 pm at the Tiptoz studio. Razzouq began studying and teaching these classes in 2009 during a deployment in Iraq. He is the now the President of the Hispanic American Association and has moved to Kansas where he continues teaching and dancing regularly. Following the lessons, the fun will move to the Historic Grounds from 8-10 pm for a Social Dance. Cost is $50 per couple. Register by email at Childcare will be available so inquire upon registration about this service. Dressy casual attire is recommended.

The Community Arts Council is sponsoring a 4-day Oil Painting workshop, under the instruction of Peggy Lyon. The workshop will be offered February 11, 12, 13 and 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, at The Rendezvous, 623 East Main in Council Grove. This workshop is open to ages 16 and up. A supply list will be available at registration.

"Our goal will be for you to understand how colors change to create the illusion of distance. We will also be working on composition and discussing general guides for what works and how to analyze your own paintings," Lyon said. Recommended canvas size for the workshop should be smaller than 16x20 so there will be more compositions to study and work through.

Class size is limited to 15, and early registration is recommended. For more information and to register, contact Cheerie Baker at 620-767-6403 or
